Amazon deletes all info from a Kindle. As if I was looking for another reason NOT to own a Kindle. 
I still think that when I buy a physical book at a bookstore, they should give me a code to download the ebook as well, should I so desire. I bought a record at a record store this weekend, and got a code to download the MP3s. If I buy the product, I should be able to consume that product in whatever way I see fit.
